Women For Election wants to get #morewomen into Irish politics. Bridging the gap, getting women from ‘being busy in the background’ to ‘going on the ticket’ when it comes to election to office, is what women for election is all about. In the podcast Niamh Gallagher co-founder of the organisation with Michelle O’Donnell Keating, talks about their exciting new crowdfunding initiative and also about how the organisation came about. Women For Election’s mission is to inspire, equip and inform women and to encourage them to run for office no matter what their political persuasion.
Women’s voices are often missing from decision making tables. It is not about getting more women into the dáil or local government for the sake of it Niamh says, it is about how that in turn affects the formation of policy.
Among Niamh’s Pearls of Wisdom is a favourite motto of hers ‘do what you say you will do’. There are more pearls of wisdom on the podcast well worth tuning in to. It is available now on Soundcloud
and now on blubrry.
