Professor Nancy Hopkins of MIT visited WiSER at TCD to talk about ‘Stemming the Leaky Pipeline The MIT approach’. She had some valuable recommendations based on MIT’s experience in redressing gender imbalance which you can hear in this interview. One of the things she said was that the problems faced by women in science and academia will just not be fixed over time because of factors like unconscious gender bias. “People fix it by very deliberate attention to the issue, identifying the problems and directly addressing them and changing policies.”
